Clopay is showcasing the hottest new garage door and coordinating entry door designs in booth #C1062 at the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas February 4 – 6, 2014.
Here’s a look at what’s trending this year and beyond:
1. Glamming up the garage - black is back!
Move over white garage doors, we'll be seeing a lot more glamour in the place we park our cars as new "cool paint" technology makes black a viable and dramatic color choice for steel garage doors. Look for it on Clopay carriage house and classic raised panel doors this spring.
2. Details that hold timeless appeal.
A recent industry survey shows that carriage house style doors are the "it look" among the garage door set, representing one out of every five residential doors sold today in North America. Sales in the category have tripled since 2005, when the Door and Access Manufacturers Association conducted its first survey to gauge the popularity of carriage style doors.
3. A breath of fresh air.
Residential builders and remodelers are continuing to take a cue from the commercial category, and looking for opportunities to create a more seamless relationship between interior and exterior living spaces. Clopay's Avante Collection aluminum and glass garage doorremains a popular choice for opening up kitchens, family rooms, and bedrooms at the press of a button. Closed, the door becomes a contemporary window wall, offering relative degrees of light and privacy.
The Avante can be seen on the 2014 New American Home during IBS.
4. Going all natural.
Natural wood is extremely popular as people skip the paint and opt for natural beauty. Besides offering a complete line of custom and semi-custom wood doors , Clopay has introduced four new insulated faux wood door collections that deliver the look of stained wood without the upkeep, making sustainability and energy-efficiency even easier.
5. Upgrades that pay you back.
Garage door and entry door upgrades continue to rank as one of the top 5 home value-adding projects, on average, nationwide, according to the 2014 Cost vs. Value report.
6. Sustainability isn’t an add on- it’s an expectation.
Clopay is the garage door sponsor of The 2014 New American Home (TNAH), the official showcase house of the International Builders’ Show, a 6,700-square-foot show home rising out of the foothills of the exclusive Sky Terrace housing development in Henderson, Nev.
From all levels, the contemporary home takes full advantage of the spectacular desert views and the Las Vegas Strip while offering cutting-edge energy efficiency and sustainability.
Designed by architect Jeffrey Berkus and constructed by Element Building Co., TNAH 2014 is expected to achieve Emerald status under the National Green Building Standard (NGBS).
The home will be open for tours at no charge to IBS attendees during the show.
